Really happy with TA. Me and my partner have used them twice now. 5 weeks in the high top in Aus! Then the chubby in NZ. Both times we’ve been super happy with the vehicle and service. We were apprehensive at first by the mixed reviews online but I can say everything was awesome.
We had an excellent experience from start to finish. The van was in great condition, very well equipped, and had everything we needed for a comfortable and worry-free trip. We had no issues at all during our journey. The staff at the branch were extremely helpful and took the time to explain everything clearly before we set off. The whole process was smooth and professional. We would definitely recommend this service to anyone planning a road trip.
Excellent service. We roamed 4 weeks through New Zealand with their camper. Easy to reach via email and phone during our trip if needed and great camper in general. Would recommend!
Great service from start to finish! I have used travellers autobarn twice now and the value for money, efficiency and service has always been incredible. The van was clean and ready to go, the staff helped me with any questions, the insurance packages are great and our Hitop campervan was our little home from home for 2 weeks in the north island! Loved it
Super recommend! We had the Kuga campervan for two months and everything went well. The car was new and comfortable. We needed support just once for a simple blown fuse, the staff was friendly, answered promptly, and reimbursed us straightway (it was just an 8NZD :P). Anyway, we had an epic time and we would definitely trust them in our next adventure!

We had an amazing experience with Travellers Autobarn and would absolutely use them again. We rented one of their vans with solar power and were genuinely impressed. As photographers, we were constantly charging camera bodies, batteries, laptops, and other gear, and we never once ran out of power or needed to plug in at campsites. The solar setup worked flawlessly and gave us total freedom. The van itself was incredibly easy to drive, even on the winding roads of New Zealand’s South Island. It fit into normal parking spots, handled like a regular vehicle, and made getting around stress-free. We also loved how unique and photogenic it looked. It actually became part of our photography rather than something we tried to hide. Inside, the bed was comfortable and converted quickly, which made moving between shooting, driving, and sleeping super easy. We did have one small issue during the trip, but their 24/7 support answered right away and helped us resolve it quickly, which gave us a lot of peace of mind. We had a great experience with these guys!! Very smooth at pickup and drop off, Craig and his team are total legends! And the vans themselves are all in good mechanical condition, easy to drive/setup etc Perfect if you're looking to rent on a bit of a budget so you can do more activities 😁 We'll be back and recommending to our friends for sure. Great experience overall! The pickup process was smooth, well organized, and everything went very quickly. The whole team was extremely welcoming, which made the start of our trip very easy. After a short time we noticed a small issue with the oil consumption, but the support team (phone call with Glynn) was incredibly helpful and responsive. Thanks to their quick and professional assistance, the problem was resolved without any hassle and we could continue our journey stress-free. Highly recommended – excellent service and great customer support!
The camper was good for three people. We had enough space to sleep and relax. Cooking was also ok. We didn't use the toilet. The price-performance was very good. We were very satisfied and can recommend the HI-5 camper. For four large people to sleep is not so good. We would have liked a more detailed instruction when we picked up the camper. Fuel consumption of approx. 12-13 liters of unleaded 91 is high, but the gas price of €1.30-1.35 is low.
This was my second time renting a campervan from Travellers Autobarn and first trip in NZ. My husband and I rented the Kuga Campervan, which had everything we needed to stay comfortable & self sufficient on the road. The office team are SO wonderful and walk you through everything before you head out. If you're thinking about renting a van to explore New Zealand - do it! There is no better way to explore and see the country.
