Great experience!. I read some spiteful reviews below regarding customers driving badly...no logic. Hiring and driving a camper in NZ requires an amount of personal responsibility , yes drivers can be idiots but it seems so can reviewers who blame the rental company....bet you they didn't hire a van and just felt the need to mouth off. In my experience I can't fault the staff and must mention their thorough focus on safety during I pre-hire briefing. Good job lads (and ladies) keep it up !read more
My husband and I recently came back from a fantastic trip to NZ. We hired a campervan from Travellers Autobarn and drove around the North Island. We collected our van from Auckland with no troubles, the team there were so friendly and efficient we were on the road in no time. NZ is such a fantastic place to explore, we would definitely do it again with Travellers Autobarn. Cheers!read more

I’ve just got back from a family trip traveling around New Zealand over Christmas. We had a fantastic time in our camper van from Travellers Autobarn. Customer service was excellent from start to finish. Information provided at the start was clear and extremely useful. The camper van was clean and in great condition. We had no issues with the van during our journey. Would definitely recommend Travellers Autobarn if your looking to hire a van for your holiday. And we’ll be using them again next time. Thank you! 5 stars from us!read more
I recently travelled to Auckland to travel around the island and picked up a fantastic camper van. It was in perfect condition and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. So happy with our Travellers Autobarn experience seeing all of NZ. The team was so nice, and helpful - even picking us up from the airport on arrival which was awesome!! We rented the Hi-5 camper which was amazing. It has everything you need. Big, roomy… an a smooth ride. In the campervan we got to travel on our own terms... Campervanning around NZ is the only way to see it. #vanlifeCheck out Travellers Autobarn for sure. Highly recommend!read more
Finding out Travellers Autobarn had vans in Australia and NZ made it a no brainer to book a van with them. We did a 2 week trip in Australia and then 1 week in New Zealand, both were equally amazing. We rented a Kuga Campervan in both places and it delivered the goods. Comfortable on the road, plenty of space for all our gear and loads of equipment to make the nights comfortable and the dinners delicious. Can't wait to book the next trip!read more
Fantastic overall!..one suggestion..get more bedding than just the one sleeping bag per person. It's just not enough at this time of year. Some parts of NZ are freezing in September. Even in summer, places like the mountain areas are extremely cold at night. We had to purchase blankets at an op shop on the second day as we were freezing at night. I suggest include some additional blankets. There's heaps of space. I don't like the idea mentioned of a 12v heater. Blankets are far better and more practical. Cheersread more
We had an amazing holiday with our Autobarn Kuga campervan. It was definitely worth the slightly higher price compared to the budget rental company we went with on our previous trip. The staff was just super friendly and helpful, and the van was in almost pristine condition. Very spacious and the interior was clearly well thought out. If we come back to NZ then we'll go with Autobarn again. The only minor downside is not being allowed to drive on unsealed roads (you'd have no insurance, so please read the T&C's about that!). Nonetheless, we fully recommend Travellers Autobarn!read more
Had a wonderful experience with Mike and the staff at TA. They were extremely helpful and the vans were in impeccable condition. We had had a rough experience with Apollo in Australia and they were the complete opposite. Best rental agency I have ever dealt with & highly recommend. Thanks again :)read more
My partner and I recently rented a Kuga campervan from Travellers Autobarn for a 2 road trip around the south island (July 2017). The van was surprisingly spacious, having a lot of room for storage as well as a lot of head room in the kitchen area (especially useful for my partner at 1.82m tall!). The kitchen itself was great, with a two burner gas stove, a small fridge and all the kitchen equipment you could need. Due to the fridge running off a different battery from the van, we were able to leave it running on the lowest setting with no worry of it draining the battery. As is was winter we had the winter pack which included extra sleeping bags and a hot water bottle which was awesome to have on those colder nights. The van was super easy and smooth to drive, making travelling from place to place much more enjoyable. Having the self contained option was awesome as it meant we could stay in some stunning Self-Contained parking areas. The staff were super friendly and easy to deal with; booking the van and picking it up was a breeze. Overall Highly recommended.read more
I rented a camper van from Auckland for two weeks from Travellers Autobarn. The van was very clean and looked like it was brand new. Particularly liked the thick mattresses for the top bunk which you don't always get in camper vans. Mechanically, cleanliness and customer service were all brilliant, though the van did use more petrol than expected (probably due to the weight of the van).Renting from Travellers Autobarn has been a great experience, I highly recommend it.read more
Me and my partner recently rented a hi-top camper from the Auckland branch of Travellers Autobarn, and it was perfect. The whole experience was brilliant from the get go; when we picked up we were greeted by Mike who I believe is the manager there. He was very friendly as if we were just having a catch up with an old friend, and he was really helpful and gave us ideas on places to go. I think he also got us on the road within about half an hour on being there, which was great as we had a busy day planned. And the van was great, it was clean and all seemed brand new, it was almost like a 5 star hotel on wheels. It had everything we needed in it, the kitchen was a good size, and quite a luxury as were used to camping in a smaller van. And we had heaps of space for our backpacks, we didn't even know what to do with all of the storage space. It was also a bonus that the van was self sufficient so we could stay at freedom sites, as those were some of our favourite (especially the one at Cathedral Cove). Mechanically the van was good (not that I know much about mechanics), but it got us around the North and South islands without any problems. All in all it was an amazing experience, and I would definitely rent with these guys again. :) Thanks guys, Adam & Claireread more
